Our Hair Transplant Robot is Friendly, Unlike Some Moviestar Robots

Mountain View is the home of Google, and as such is a very “techie” place. And it’s a fact that techies like robots. A friendly hair transplant robot.Which is great if you are looking for an ARTAS hair transplant in Mountain View because at Silicon Valley Hair Institute in Foster City, we use the ARTAS robotic system for hair transplants. In fact, today you don’t even need to come up to Foster City, because we have just opened a new surgery in Palo Alto as well.

And when it comes to robotic hair transplants, our Dr Miguel Canales knows everything that there is to know about them. He should do. For ten years he was the Medical Director of a company called Restoration Robotics, and he was in charge of the team that invented the ARTAS robot. Indeed, Dr Canales’ name is on no less than 11 separate patents that form the basis of robotic hair transplantation.

Not only that, Dr Canales has trained other hair restoration surgeons, plastic surgeons, and dermatologists around the world in the use of the ARTAS robot. So when you are looking for an ARTAS hair transplant in Mountain View, you simply couldn’t do any better than talk to Dr Canales.

A Host Of Benefits from Robotic Hair Transplantation in the Bay Area

The ARTAS system has a whole host of benefits over a manual hair transplant. The robot removes donor hair from the back and sides of the head with a tiny needle, harvesting one follicle at a time, rather than manual surgery where a strip of hair is removed from the back of the head. The robot leaves a tiny wound which heals but is so small that no visible scarring can be seen. This is true, even if you decide to wear your hair short, whereas the manual method leaves a permanent scar on the back of the head which is visible if you do that.

The robot then inserts the follicles one at a time, exactly matching the angle and direction of any existing hairs in the recipient area. Doing this with manual equipment can mean that the follicles can be damaged, and a significant proportion of them may not grow. Furthermore, the process of hair transplantation can take several hours, and there can also be significant error simply as a result of fatigue on the part of the surgeon, whereas the robot can cheerfully go on all day – and all night if necessary!

There is also less pain and downtime. Most patients only need some ibuprofen for a day or two at most and can happily go back to playing sport or any other strenuous exercise after only a day or two. So for an ARTAS hair transplant in Mountain View or elsewhere in the Bay Area, come and talk to Dr Canales.
