FUE Hair Transplant – San Francisco Bay Area

FUE Hair Transplant – San Francisco Bay Area

A hair transplant at Sillicon Valley can be done in one of two ways, either FUT or FUE. As experts in both procedures, we try to educate our patients to understand that these hair restoration treatments actually are not that different. The only difference is the shape of the scar in the back (donor area). The resulting hair growth will be the same. So my advice is to go to a dedicated hair transplant clinic that offers both, so that you have a choice. As one of the top-rated San Francisco Bay Area hair transplant clinics offering both the FUT and FUE procedures, we are really excited to work with our patients to determine the best individual course of action.

FUT- An Older Technology But Still GreatFUE Hair Transplant

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) has been done for many years. It works great and we have hundreds of happy patients throughout the Bay Area who have restored their hair this way. Yes it does leave a thin scar in the donor area, but it is covered by your existing hair so nobody can see it. Using this procedure we can usually get more grafts and therefore perform a larger hair transplant. And it costs less! Think of FUT as custom hair transplant – being done “by hand” it can be more detailed, with the downside being the scar. However, if you tend to wear your hair long, this can be a very good option.

FUE – Newer Kind of Hair Transplant, we use a Robot!

An FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplant makes grafts using tiny punches rather than a cut. We use the ARTAS robot for this procedure. This leaves very tiny dots that can’t be seen through your hair in the back. This is really good for people who wear their hair very short. This kind of hair transplant is better done in smaller cases where the baldness is not so extensive. And it does cost more, robots don’t come cheap you know!

Your Hair is Unique

No two people are alike, nor are their hair. In fact, each hair follicle itself is slightly unique. So, you may be considering FUT or FUE, but you may not truly know what’s best for you. For this reason, your best bet is to call us and come in for a hair restoration consultation. Dr. Canales will evaluate your hair, and your desired results, and make a recommendation for you. It’s not that one is “better” and one is “worse,” but rather the goal is to identify the best hair transplant strategy for you and your unique needs.
