Many Men Become Bald as They Age, but a Hair Transplant Can Work Wonders

Here’s something scary for men: around 70% of all men will lose hair as they get older, and some 25% of men start to see signs of hair loss before the age of 21! It also affects around 40% of women, although there are differences between men and women when it comes to hair loss. A hair transplant can completely restore hair to those bald patches in men.

Women who lose hair tend to have areas of thinning hair, whereas in men it is more common to have areas that are completely bald. As we have often said at Silicon Valley Hair Institute, quite a lot of men who suffer from male pattern baldness tend to regard it as “just one of those things” but for others, it can be very distressing. Let’s be honest: if you start to have bald patches at the age of 30, it can make you feel out of the ordinary and as though, somehow, there is something “wrong” with you. That’s not true, but that doesn’t alter how some men feel about male pattern baldness.

Fortunately, for those men who are affected mentally by baldness creeping on, today we are in the 21st century and we have answers that were not available back in the 1950’s and 60’s. In fact, the first-ever hair transplant to treat male pattern baldness was carried out by New York dermatologist Dr. Norman Orentreich in 1952.

Things have come on in leaps and bounds since those days, and today there are many hair transplant surgeons who can help those who suffer.

A Hair Transplant Carried Out By A Robot!

But we have also gone one step further because today you can have a hair transplant carried out by a robot! You read that correctly. And as luck would have it, when you live in the Bay Area, you can have a robotic hair transplant carried out under the auspices of the man who invented the robot, Dr. Miguel Canales. He was Medical Director of Restoration Robotics Inc. for ten years and his name is on no less that eleven of the patents.

Today, Dr. Canales is Director of Silicon Valley Hair Institute which is based in Foster City (and with another branch in Palo Alto). There are many advantages to having a robotic hair transplant, not the least of which is that it is computer controlled and therefore doesn’t make errors. With the best will in the world, carrying out a transplant surgery by hand can be tiring for the surgeon, which in turn can lead to imperfections. The robot can carry on all day (and night as well!).

So, if you are suffering from male pattern baldness and have had enough, the first step is to make an appointment to see Dr. Canales (the appointment is free) so that he can assess your individual condition and advise you on the most appropriate treatment.
