The Artas Robot? Is It the Right Choice for a Hair Transplant?

If you are considering having a hair transplant in Palo Alto, that is a good idea. If you are suffering from thinning hair or bald patches, it can have a very depressing effect on your life and damage your self-confidence, and that is not a good thing. Having a hair transplant can make a whole world of difference to your life and to the way that you feel. The ARTAS robot is the latest thing for hair transplants and available right here in Foster City, near Palo Alto, California.

For many years now, a hair transplant has been carried out by a surgeon working manually because there was no other way of doing it. However, today, you can have a hair transplant carried out by a robot, believe it or not! Yes. A robot!

You may be wondering why you would want a robot to carry out a hair transplant, or even how a robot could do such a thing. Both of which are very good questions.

The fact is that having a hair transplant carried out with the robot – ARTAS – has several benefits over and above having it carried out manually by a surgeon. Not the least of these is that it leaves no visible scar.

When you have a manual hair transplant, the surgeon has to take a strip of hair from the back of your head which is then cut into tiny groups of one to four hairs – or follicular units – which he then transplants into the recipient area. Unfortunately, this will leave a scar at the back of your head where the strip was removed, and there is nothing that can be done about it.

No Visible Scarring

The hair transplant with ARTAS only removes between one and four follicular units at a time from different parts of the head which it then automatically transplants into the recipient area. This leaves no visible scarring whatsoever. That is just one benefit of ARTAS.

When the robot transplants the hair follicles into the recipient area it will place them at the exact same height, direction, and elevation of any existing hairs in the area, so will produce a totally natural appearance. Furthermore, a hair transplant using a manual procedure can take several hours, and it is only natural that the surgeon may become tired and make minor errors. The ARTAS robot never gets tired and can carry on all night if necessary.

In addition, the robot detects hairs in the recipient area and inserts the transplant follicles directly beside them, so there is no possible damage to any existing hairs.
