The World’s Leading Expert Restores Your Hair Loss With a Robot

If you are suffering from thinning hair as many people do, then you may have heard about a hair transplant using a robot. To be strictly accurate, it is known as the ARTAS robot and was invented and produced by a company called Restoration Robotics Inc.A robotic hair transplant is available in Foster City

There are many advantages to having a hair transplant using the ARTAS in the Bay Area, but it is not available everywhere. In fact, the best place to go and see ARTAS in the Bay Area is at the Silicon Valley Hair Institute which is in Foster City, and has a second branch in Palo Alto.

Silicon Valley Hair Institute is under the directorship of Dr. Miguel Canales who is a leading expert on treatment for hair loss, and in particular on the ARTAS robot. This is because for ten years Dr. Canales was the Medical Director of Restoration Robotics, and he led the team which designed and produced it. There is nobody who knows more about ARTAS than Dr. Canales.

So what is so special about having a hair transplant done by a robot?

Well, to begin with, when you have a hair transplant carried out manually by a surgeon, the first thing that happens is that he will remove a strip of hair from the back of your head which is what is used to split up into groups of between one and four hairs which are then transplanted into the thinning or bald area. Unfortunately, this leaves a scar at the back of the head. Now that is not an issue if you wear your hair long, but if you prefer to wear it short then the scar will be very visible.

No Visible Scarring

By contrast, the ARTAS robot selects tiny groups of four hairs from different places on the head and removes them for transplantation. This leaves no visible scarring at all.

The ARTAS robot then transplants the hairs into the recipient site at exactly the same angle, height, and direction of any existing hairs there, producing a perfectly natural aesthetic appeal. It also avoids any damage to the existing hairs because it can place the transplant hair follicles beside them.

Furthermore, a hair transplant can take several hours, and it is natural for a human to tire. This means that it can lead to errors when you have a manual transplant. However, the ARTAS robot can carry on all day and will never get tired.

There are other benefits too, in that it is easier to harvest follicles from patients with curly hair such as those of African descent. There is also less pain and very little downtime compared with a manual transplant.

If you would like to learn more about ARTAS in the Bay Area you can make an appointment to see Dr. Canales in person as he is always happy to provide a free consultation to all patients.
