If You Are Suffering Hair Loss, Consider a Robotic Transplant. It’s Cool!

As we get older, many of us – both men and women, but rather more men – can begin to suffer from hair loss, and it can cause considerable distress to many people. It’s a sign of aging, and nobody really wants that. A robotic hair transplant right on your doorstepYes, we all do age, but we don’t want to look older than we are, and with many people suffering hair loss from age 40 or even younger it can certainly produce that effect. This is why many people today opt for a hair transplant in order to restore hair to the thinning areas.

Up until recently, FUT surgery was the answer. This is a hair transplant carried out by a skilled surgeon which can restore hair to thinning and balding areas of the scalp. FUT stands for Follicular Unit Transplant.

However, hair transplant surgery has come into the 21st century and today you can have an FUE hair transplant instead. That is Follicular Unit Extraction, and it is carried out by a robot! How about that for cool!

Better still, there is a robot right here in Foster City at Silicon Valley Hair Institute. Even better, is that our director, Dr. Miguel Canales, was the leader of the team that invented that robot! For a period of ten years he was the Medical Director of Restoration Robotics Inc., which is the company that manufactures the ARTAS robot today. It doesn’t get a lot better than that.

A Clever Invention – So Cool!

The ARTAS robot is a really clever invention. Just to start with, when you have an FUE hair transplant, there is no scar left on the back of your head. If you have an FUT transplant, the surgeon has to remove a strip of hair from the back of your head and cut it into tiny sections of one to four hair follicles for transplantation. Unfortunately, that leaves a scar. However, with an FUE transplant our clever robot just removes a follicular unit of one to four hairs at a time and this leaves no visible scarring whatsoever. How clever is that?

When it inserts the hairs into the recipient area it will do so in a way which exactly matches the angle, direction, and height of any existing hairs in the area, so producing a look that is totally natural and better than any hair transplant surgeon, no matter how expert, could achieve manually.

Furthermore, an FUT transplant surgeon is bound to tire when he works for some hours, and so errors may creep in, whereas the ARTAS robot can go on all day and all night and never gets tired.
