Well, that’s not strictly accurate. However, our director is Dr Miguel Canales, and before he opened Silicon Valley Hair Institute, he was the Medical Director of a company called Restoration Robotics which produces the ARTAS robot. He led the team which designed it. In fact, his name is on no less than eleven patents for it. And one of the things which the robot can do – far better than any human – is to carry out a hair transplant for curly hair.
It has a lot of benefits for a hair transplant for anybody, in fact. If you have a manual hair transplant, the surgeon has to remove a strip of hair from the back of your head in order to divide it into small follicles of between one and four hairs to transplant them. Unfortunately, that will leave a scar, and there is not much that you can do about that. It’s OK if you wear your hair long but will show if you cut it short.
Not Strictly True!
But our clever little robot doesn’t do that. It harvests tiny follicular units from around the head, one at a time, and this leaves no visible scars whatsoever. It then transplants them into the recipient area of thinning hair or bald spots. This also increases the survival rates of the transplanted hair follicles.
Not only that, but our clever robot transplants the hair follicles at exactly the same height, direction, and angle, of any other hairs in the area, thus producing a perfect aesthetic appearance.
