When it comes to a robotic hair transplant it is fair to say that Dr Canales knows more about it than anyone else. For ten years, he was the Medical Director of Robotic Restorations and he led the team which invented and produced the ARTAS robot which is today used in hair transplant surgeries around the world. Indeed, he has been to several countries where he has trained other hair transplant surgeons in its’ use.

Major Advantages to our Hair Transplant Systems

The ARTAS robot has several major advantages over a hair transplant that is done by hand. To begin with, if you have a manual hair transplant the surgeon will remove a strip of hair from the back of your head from which the hair follicles are harvested in order to be transplanted. This leaves you with a scar at the back of your head which is noticeable if you want to wear your hair short. The ARTAS robot leaves no such scar because it harvests the hairs in groups of three or four and leaves no visible scar whatsoever.

When the robot transplants the hair follicles it inserts them next to any existing hairs in the recipient area, exactly matching the angle, direction, and elevation of those hairs which results in a pleasing and wholly natural appearance. Furthermore, it detects those existing hairs and makes incisions next to them so it doesn’t do any damage to them, which can happen with a manual transplant. The process also gives increased survival of the harvested follicular units. There is also less pain and discomfort with the robotic procedure, and less down time as well: you can go back to playing your sport the next day if you want to.
